Raising Oaks,
Not Orchids
Helping Christian mothers disciple rooted, resilient children, ready for the days ahead Scripture prepares us for.
Our calling is not to shield our children from every struggle.
It is to ground them in Christ and His Word so they stand firm when it comes.
Oaks Not Orchids exists to equip Christian mothers to disciple their children with biblical depth, spiritual conviction, and a firm foundation in God’s Word. In a world that elevates comfort and emotional ease, we believe Scripture calls families to something stronger, something steadier, and something enduring.
This is a place for mothers who want to prepare their children not just for childhood, but for faithfulness across a lifetime.
An orchid is admired for its beauty, but it cannot endure harsh conditions.
An oak grows slowly.
It’s roots run deep.
It weathers storms, drought, and time itself.
We believe God calls His people to raise oaks.
Children who know Scripture.
Children who can discern truth from error.
Children who are not shaken by suffering, opposition, or cultural pressure.
Oaks Not Orchids is about returning to a biblical vision of discipleship where mothers are not outsourcing spiritual formation, but faithfully planting, watering, and trusting God with the growth.
Tamara Carroll
Tamara is a Marine Corps veteran, wife, mother of four, and a devoted disciple of Christ with a deep burden for the spiritual formation of the next generation.
With a background in school psychology, experience in the classical Christian education world, and years of discipling women in community, Tamara has seen firsthand the cost when faith becomes shallow and outsourced.
Her calling is rooted in a conviction that Scripture, not culture, must shape how we raise our children.
Through Oaks Not Orchids, Tamara equips mothers to embrace discipleship in the home, grow in biblical literacy, and prepare their children to endure hardship with wisdom, courage, and hope.

You were not meant to disciple your children alone.
You were not meant to

Through thoughtful writing, Scripture-centered resources, and future classes, this ministry offers guidance rooted in biblical conviction rather than cultural trends.

If you are longing to raise children who stand firm in Christ, this is a place to be reminded that God equips those He calls, that faithfulness is formed over time, and that the quiet work of discipleship matters more than the world may ever notice.
